Pursuing Daily Faithfulness with Faithful Friday Link Up

Last week I wrote about how we often look at faithfulness in the long term vs. the here and now. We often are discouraged at the thought of ever becoming faithful Christians, because we fail to be faithful every single day.

This is where grace is key. Grace is what allows us to fail over and over again today, and pick back up tomorrow where we will continue to fail again. God’s grace gives us the ability to strive daily for faithfulness, though we both know we can never become a picture of perfect faithfulness.

Faithfulness

So how do we pursue faithfulness in the here and now? This very moment and throughout our day today?

Pursuing Daily Faithfulness

1. Begin your day in His word and talking to Him.
Faithfulness starts with becoming more like Him. Which requires getting to know Him; intimately through His word and conversation with Him.

2. Continually sing His praises and talk to Him throughout your day.
Play praise music or instrumental hymns in the background of your daily activities. Talk to Him about your struggles and your dreams. You can do this while you do the dishes, scrub the bathtub or sweep the floor.

3. Pray for others.
Look beyond yourself, your wants and needs. Have a part in changing other’s lives and bless them without them even knowing it by bringing them to the Lord in prayer.

4. Teach your children the ways of the Lord.
We are called to raise our children to love the Lord, to serve Him all their days and to share His love with others. This is one of our most important ministries and where we often struggle the most.

5. Serve where God has you.
We all are at different stages in our lives. Some of us have babies, while others have children that are grown and out of the home. Dependent on where we are in life will determine what our ministries are. As wives our #1 ministry is our husband, followed by our children. Beyond that is between each of us and the Lord. If you desire to serve Him and are not sure where He would have you, seek Him in prayer. He will light the path He has for you.

On a personal note….

Personally there is never enough time in the day for all my ideas, hopes and dreams. I always feel like I can and should do more for the Lord and my family. Everyone is always telling me that I never stop, that I need to slow down and let my brain rest. Somehow that doesn’t seem to be wired into me though. So I am thankful for reminders like this one….

In my kitchen there is an inspirational note card from my mom that I keep there because I always needs it’s reminder. “People who accomplish things that count, are usually too busy to count their accomplishments.” I don’t want to be so busy that I can’t see what God is working through me. I don’t want to miss my kiddos lives being changed by the working of God in them. This is something I must be more diligent about. I must ensure that my time is planned well so I don’t miss those moments.

Great list! I love the one that reminds us to serve where God has placed us. After all, He knows what’s best, and if we spend all our time trying to GET OUT of there, then we aren’t serving – we’re escaping! We need to serve Him wherever He has us until He chooses to move us! Thanks for hosting today.

So blessed by this post! I think “serve where God has you” is the most difficult for me, when I let go of the vision the Lord has for me as a mom & a wife – because I often overlook those to try to focus on being used in a teen girl ministry, or an adoption ministry, or…or…or…! And He is so patient to remind me that those things are good but that’s not the season for me right now. He’s calling me to faithfulness to the children & man He’s blessed me with.

    Thank you!!

That is the hardest for me as well. I have lots of ideas, dreams and plans that I want to fulfill all the time, and I miss the moments where God has me right now. I am very thankful that He is patient and turns me around or even knocks me down when I need it! Blessings hun! 🙂
