I am…..

With the holidays last week, I have not made it through all of your posts yet. I’m working my way through them though! 🙂 Next week I will feature a post from last week and this week. Thank you for grace!

As a teenager and as a young adult, I felt the need to be dressed up. Make up and hair done neatly every day. Never leaving the house until I was certain I looked nice.

Vanity was a problem, though then I didn’t see it as vanity, or a problem.

Over the last 7 years I’ve grown dissatisfied with myself. My face, my hair, my weight, my mommy tummy, dark circles plague my eyes, etc.

In the past 2-3 years, since becoming a SAHM, I’ve grown to enjoy not putting on makeup every day, and even going out in public without it!

I enjoy wearing comfier clothes every day, not worried about being perfectly outfitted should need to make a run to town. I’ve learned that my hair will be fine brushed and in a knot on top of my head.

Enjoying these things has not changed how I feel about myself though.

I’ve said to my husband a few times, how I thought I was prettier growing up, as a teenager. To which he has responded that he’s seen my pix and disagrees. Yes, that helped a lil bit 😉

I was out shopping this week and as I was waiting inline, my face appeared in a mirror next to me….and this “thought” went across my mind…..

“You are beautiful. Just the way you are. For I made you perfectly.”

And in that moment I KNEW it to be true!

It doesn’t take make up and hair do’s from Hollywood, or clothes from 5th avenue.

Messy top hair knots and a fresh smiling face, showcase the beauty that God created in me!

The same is true for you sis! You are PERFECT ~ just as you are!

I’m still gonna enjoy dressing up for hubby, especially when we go out, but I KNOW now that I AM beautiful……JUST AS I AM 🙂

I loved this down-to-earth post. It is the beauty within us because of Christ abiding in our life that should be what attracts others to us. We focus so much on the outward, and that is not all bad. As we get older, if all our focus is on the outward, we will definitely not be the beautiful woman God created us to be. If we have focused on our hidden self, it will make our aging face radiant with Holy Spirit.

Thanks so much for linking up this week over at WholeHearted Home. I too have had a lot of trouble keeping up with my Linkup Party this week especially. I did finally read all the posts and enjoyed them all too. With Thanksgiving and time with my family it was really hard…and of course they came first!! Now, I am not even keeping up too well with posting. I should have posts written ahead, LOL, but I used them all up. I’m thankful that you were real and honest. I sometimes have wondered if I was the only one on the tightrope balancing family and blogging. Family is going to win every time!!

Oh, yes it is so easy to focus outside instead of the true beauty inside each of us! Yes, family will always come first! I finally finished last week’s link up this morning 🙂 Now onto this week! LOL! I’m thankful for each one of them, just have to ensure family comes first! You aren’t alone in that 😉 Blessings sis! 🙂

So glad you’re lovin’ on yourself! It’s easy to feel in a rut with clothes or makeup when we’re always home. I’ve learned that I can still do my hair and makeup, even if I’m still in PJS. LOL

Oh now that’s an idea! 🙂 LOL! Thanks for the new idea and for stoppin by! Blessings! 🙂

I feel much the same way. Since my husband is deployed I have started taking more pictures of myself and most of the time I have no make-up on. I’m beginning to see myself as someone who is beautiful without all the junk I put on myself to make myself feel better about how I look!

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Isn’t it a great feeling? I love that I don’t have to have make up on to feel beautiful! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

It’s easy to fall into feeling frumpy when we aren’t getting dressed up on a regular basis. But just b/c we aren’t dressed up doesn’t mean we look bad!

    1. simplyhelpinghim

That it is! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

How I can relate… ! I wear less make up now than before to be sure. I am blessed with a husband who never criticizes my weight – It’s been a battle for me to be sure – And he tells me I’m beautiful. We’re both getting older, gravity takes over. He’s still slim (I envy that at times!). But overall we are blessed with good health and that means a lot. Bless you girl! You are indeed beautiful 🙂

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Yes, less make up, less frilly clothes….lol! I totally hear ya! 🙂 Thank you for your kind words! Love ya!

Good for you! We do a “You are beautiful” day periodically at the middle school where I teach, and encourage girls and female teachers to go bare-faced. The reception is very good!

Great post, and you are beautiful!

I am only now learning that God sees me this way too.. I am lovely because He made me- lovely when I have time to dress up and lovely when I am bowed down with the tasks of nurturing life in my own home. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and you are too!

    Blessings!
