The Good. The Bad. The Ugly. - Simply Helping Him: Marriage Experience from a Help Meet

The Good. The Bad. The Ugly.

I always strive to be 100% real, on my blog as well as in my life.

At times this is harder than it seems. Especially the “in life” part.

As Christians we often wonder… What will they think of me if they really knew me? If they knew my past…..my present struggles…..my failures.

This week Good Morning Girls  kicked off a new study….the book of Colossians. On Monday we began with Chapter 1:1-4.

Colossians 1:1-4

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints”

Paul and Timothy are sending a letter to fellow believers and they tell them that they thank God for them; for their faith, their love of ALL the saints.

I am just as guilty as any other Christian for not thanking the Lord for ALL the saints. Yet this is something we should be.

Thankful for ALL our fellow brothers and sisters.

Being real, showing them Christ’s love.

Being real, by being a part of their lives…..The good. The bad. The ugly.

If we all were to be real, none of us would be without…..The good. The bad. The ugly.

Somehow, somewhere we’ve taken it upon ourselves to determine what is good, bad and ugly. Thus we judge what is acceptable and what is not acceptable, in a Christian’s life.

Sometimes we try to be polite, but not get to close; other times we avoid those “unacceptable”.

I’ve been through all three stages ~ The good. The bad. The ugly. <—- Tweet Me Please

I’ve been the Christian avoided. Politeness received….coldly….

I pray this day that we will be challenged. To truly be real. To thank God for ALL our brothers and sisters. To show God’s love to them all. No matter what stage they are in. The good. The bad. or. The ugly.

We never know…. Our current stage might be fixing to change.

Oh my how I try so hard to hide the ugly parts of me; not so people will think I’m good but because there are things about me that scare me at times. Even admitting this leaves me feeling rather vulnerable. Thanks for your honesty.

The ugly side of us, tends to scare us more than others I believe. Being real is the only way I feel we will make a difference in this world for Christ! Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!

Authenticity is so important in life online and in real life. Some people don’t like the reality of it though unfortunately. I think it can be disappointing sometimes when you meet someone like that but it just reminds me how important it is to be to keep being real because you never know who you might encourage by being so! 🙂

Yes! I believe we will win more people to the Lord by being real! If you were to not be real and then change later, that would most likely be labeled hypocrisy. It is for this reason, I believe much of the church as so many problems. Blessings!

None of us is perfect and I think that by being honest about our imperfections it can show people that Christians aren’t any different than they are.

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Absolutely! I agree! We aren’t any different just saved by the grace of God! Blessings!

Timely reminder and follow-up to our sermon this Sunday. Our pastor talked about truly LOVING our enemies.

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Yes, we need to love our enemies, but not forget the Christians we avoid, are “ugly” or “bad” in our tainted opinion. Blessings sis!

      1. Mary Beth

Absolutely! We must remember grace always–and that we were there once too and will likely struggle again! How easily we forget. Thanks for linking up with WIP!

        1. simplyhelpinghim

Yes, it is so easy to forget the hard roads we’ve been down when we’re up on the mountain! Blessings!

good post! being real is definitely hard, but worth it, because it gives God glory through our good, bad and ugly 😉

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Yes, it is hard, but it does give God the glory! For it is through Him we make it through each stage! Blessings!

We are talking about this very thing at our bible study today! Being real, or being “fine!”

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Yes, “fine” is a grab word. A word we just grab and throw out when we don’t want to share, answer or just be left alone. Hope you’re bible study went well! Blessings!

Great reminder! If we were only more open with one another, how much more could we press forward and overcome? Great post. Thanks for sharing!

The Christian avoided… me too. No fun, but it’s a great reminder not to judge ANY of the saints, but to love them.
