Is His Heart Safe with You? Part 2

Just as our words can damage our relationship with our husband, so can our actions and choices.

As help meets we should desire to have 100% of our husbands trust, which shows he knows his heart is safe with us.

God’s word in 1 John 3:18 says, we aren’t to love in word or tongue, but in deed and in truth. Our words are not enough, we must live out what we say. This rings true in a marriage, as well as outside of it.

While our husbands are away, what do we find ourselves putting our hands to?

Are we “killing time” on Facebook, sleeping in because we can, shopping with the girls, etc?

While all of these events/choices have their own place and time……do we find ourselves doing them (or similar things) frequently while our husbands are away?

Again, we are going to look at Proverbs 31:11….. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.”

Our husbands are to be able to trust us knowing that our actions and choices will not bring them difficulty, more work, stress, etc.

Matthew Henry’s commentary states….”He needs not to be griping and scraping abroad, as those must be whose wives are proud and wasteful at home.”

We must ensure our choices are best for our family at this particular time…..

It might feel like you need new curtains, and you’ve found the PERFECT set, but it is beyond your budget…..and there’s nothing wrong with the set you have…..

Hubby’s heading home from work, and he’ll be hungry, but I’m gonna finish my book, then I’ll cook dinner.

There’s a new phone out that I really want with lots of new options, I just won’t tell him I took the $ from savings…..

On and on the scenarios can go…..none of the ones above have a positive impact, nor do the actions speak love….

Are you choosing to grow or spoil your husband’s trust in you?

In your actions stop and think…..

Will this harm my husband’s trust in me? Will this show him I love him?

Assess your time……are you wasting it on things you shouldn’t? How can you use your time and show your husband you love him by your actions?

Men typically do not live by words, they want to see things done.

Love him. Show him.

Put him, his desires, and requests first.

Keep his best interest in mind at all times.

  1. This is such wisdom.

Honour is a word which springs to mind as I’m reading this post. We have to put these temptations to follow our own whims and desires if they go against honouring our husbands.

Great post. Linked here from The Wellspring. Blessings.

  2. Visiting through the Matrimonial Monday link-up at A Proverbs 31 Wife.

I, too, have written on Proverbs 31 today and the more I get into it, the more I realize I have to work on. But that’s a good t hing.

  3. You always give me much to think about. I really appreciate your heart and passion for helping others be a good help mate.

  4. I really enjoyed reading your post. I am stopping by from matrimonial Monday link-up. The question you asked, “Will this harm my husband’s trust in me? Will this show him I love him?” really hit home because at times I focus more on my to-do list over making my husband feel secure and loved. I look forward to staying connected

    Happy Monday!

  5. Sweet words. I’m hopping over from Ruth’s link up on GraceLaced. I needed your words today. Serving my husband is what I need to act on…not just merely pray on love, but show love. Thank you!
