Dear Wife Who Lives Exhausted

Each day you wake and coffee calls your name…..

You race through your days, fulfilling each request you receive, and all your required duties…

Breakfast, School, Laundry, Housekeeping, Lunch, Sports, and Dinner all await you……with lots more thrown in between….

From sunrise to sunset, your hands and feet are put to the test….

Can you keep up? Will everything be complete when your day is done?

At last the sun has set, and you may rest…..

Except your thoughts run through your head…..

Checking off your list of to do’s from today, and thinking of tomorrow’s list as well….

Thinking of the missed opportunities throughout your day…..one more hug, another kiss, just one more chapter PLEASE?

What pictures didn’t you take today? What prayer did you not have time to pray?

Sleep will eventually come, and you’ll begin again with the coming of the sun.

We must take back control of our days, we choose what and when…..Things to do don’t run us, we choose them.

There are things that must be done, but often they don’t make us run.

It’s the simple things that count the most…..

time spent…..memories made….hugs and kisses…..

Often times we create our own exhaustion by not taking the time to think things through.

Taking time to think and pray, before we take on new activities, ministries or responsibilities….

We must do what’s right for our families….

A full night’s sleep and non-crazy days will allow us to be at our best for our families.

  3. This Woman Writes -- Carolyn Henderson

Years ago, I read in James Herriot’s Great and Small series a statement by an older man to the then young Jimmy:

“Treasure these days, son. They go by fast.” Okay, that’s a paraphrase, but it’s a truth.

I’m in the nest emptying stage, and I can assure you that, if you’re not there yet, it will come fast. Dishes, chores, vacuuming, housework — all this stuff can wait, and if someone thinks you’re less of a mom because of it, that’s their problem, not yours. The people who looked askance at me years ago are still distant, cold, acquaintances, so what they think, really doesn’t matter.

Learn to say no. Breathe. Laugh. Treasure these moments before they become memories. Life is meant to be lived in the present.

Thank you for the encouragement, I am working hard to learn to stop and enjoy the time with my lil blessings. Thank you again! Blessings!

It changes the pace, doesn’t it – when we start it with Him and His word! I’m learning to let go of the list, though:) Much to my husband’s dismay!

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Oh yes! Starting with Him is the best way to begin our days! Sometimes we hit the ground running and don’t take the time we should. Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

Boy you sure have it right about creating our own exhaustion! Sometimes we just have to say no and stay home! Thanks so much for linking up to the “Making Your Home Sing Monday’ linky party!

    1. simplyhelpinghim

Yes, often I am the culprit of my own exhaustion! I honestly love to stay home, but the kids and their activities can drive you out more than you need to be. Thank you for stoppin by, and for the link up! Blessings!

The Power of No. I think that may be a book. if it’s not, it should be :). The moment we are comfortable with saying now, with turning down what is “good” for what is most important, is the moment we are able to truly flourish.

    1. simplyhelpinghim

It definitely sounds like it should be a book! 🙂 Flourish, I love that word! It’s perfect! Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!

A great encouragement, my friend. I sometimes put “hug my spouse” or “text my spouse a special message” on my “to-do” list, otherwise the day will whiz by and I won’t have invested where it counts most. Thanks for this wise word and for linking up for the first time at Wedded Wed. It’s nice to have ya!

Wise words! Sometimes I have a hard time setting priorities, then I feel like I am wearing lead boots when I dont accomplish all I wanted to. Looking forward to reading more of your posts…Thanks

So true – we make our own exhaustion. (or at least don’t do anything to corral it in)

There’s a really good (old) book called “Ordering Your Private World” that comes to mind. In the first chapter, the author talks about a sink hole and how overnight it consumed an entire building – and the fact that if we’re not building our lives on secure foundational habits then we’re at risk of this kind of break-apart.

Thanks for reminders of what to focus on – memories and time with those we love.

    1. simplyhelpinghim

That is a wonderful picture of what can happen should we not ensure all we do is according to God’s will! Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing! Blessings!
