This year has had a bit of a rough start.
A time of growing through a valley is what I’ve decided it must be.
In the valley is where we must grow, for only with strength acquired through the growth will we be able to stand on the mountaintop! <— Tweet! Tweet!
Through the valley the hardest thing for me to do is choose to love.
I would rather draw back intoΒ seclusion until the distance in my marriage seems to lessen.
Yet, I am learning that this does not help the growth or strength process.
This last week is a big week in my family.
My stepson’s birthday is the 11th, Valentine’s Day is the 14th and hubby’s birthday is the 16th.
It is a busy and fun week in our home! Lots of celebrating to be found.
This year, I didn’t want to do anything.
I wanted to just skip that week.
Except, it would have been selfish and wrong.
So instead I chose to love through my valley.
My kiddos and my hubby.
Loving them, and growing in strength.
My stepson wasn’t at our home on his birthday, so I chose the next day that he would be with us to celebrate.
Which was also Valentine’s Day. LOL
I made his and hubby’s favorite dinner…. Tacos
As well as their favorite cake….. Triple Chocolate Bliss Cake
I made everyone their Valentine’s Day Goodies too!
It was a very busy day in the kitchen!
For hubby’s birthday, I took him away for the weekend and rented a snowmobile for a day.
This was not an easy choice for me, and there were times that I almost cancelled the entire trip.
I am learning that nothing worth doing is gonna be easy.
My marriage is priceless.
Thus it won’t be easy.
I know that it is worth it.
For one day I know I will stand on the mountaintop!

Love isn’t always a feeling is it? A lot of time it is a choice. A choice that is sometimes hard to make. Your hard work will pay off!

Choices are important – how we greet the day; how we deal with troubles. Having Jesus at our side reminds us that He can take us through anything – and with joy.
Praying that you will continue even in the valley to see the joy in each moment of the day.
Blessings,
Janis

Loving through the valley times is definitely the way to grow spiritually. Thanks for sharing about your choice to value your marriage even when it’s hard.
(I’d be scared to death to ride a snowmobile!)

Yes, growing isn’t a pleasant thing all the time, lots of pulling, stretching and weeding happens π Thank you for stoppin by! The snowmobile was tons of fun, there were a few scary moments mostly due to the fact that my helmet froze up and I couldn’t see! :/ Blessings!

With 5 children (teens) and 3 of them special needs, my husband and I get NO time together. So, cherish the time you have to spend together. We will get our time one day.
I have not had a chance to stop by your blog lately because I have been working on changing my blog theme/design. Please check out my new blog theme and let me know what you think. Blessings to you! Diane http://www.recipesforourdailybread.com/

The snowmobile trip must have been a blast! How fun! You are such a loving wife and great mom… Those valleys and deserts times can be great learning processes – although it doesn’t always feel like it. Bless You!

Keep pressing on doing good things for your dear husband. You are doing the right thing by cooking and doing for your family when you might be exhausted and feel like giving up. Being a wife and mother is a high calling and worth the effort. Love your step-son unconditionally as that will speak volumes to your husband and his son. It is hard enough for him.
Thanks for the linkup today. Have a wonderfully blessed day!!

Your heart is right, and that is a beautiful thing to see. I guess we all struggle with similar things, this piece is an encouragement to me.

You beautiful woman of God! So inspiring the way you sacrificially choose to walk in the Saviour’s ways! So hard, yet you WILL hear Him one day say, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” And it will all be worth it. You have my greatest admiration and support!
Keep on precious sister! You are a beacon of light to us all!!!
