In the beginning of a relationship typically everything you do, the other person is always put first. What they like, what they like to do, eat, etc. is often considered before yourself.
Interestingly this often fades as the relationship passes through time. You begin to think of yourself, your wants, needs and desires without thinking of your spouse.
The beauty of togetherness begins to see selfishness rear its ugly head. All the time it was pushed away, it seems it is making up for in short order.
Once again, just as we choose to love, we must choose to be selfless. Choosing to fulfill our spouses wants needs and desires above our own. Doing so is fulfilling our calling as a couple, as God intended.
“… they shall be one flesh.”
When we are consistent in showing our spouse they are our priority, above even ourselves, they will begin to notice, comment and return the favor! Often they don’t even realize they are doing so!
It is often the simple things that our spouses notice, choosing to cook their favorite meal, washing their car, letting them finish their sentences, putting the kids to bed when they’re being difficult, etc. When our actions show we’ve thought of them and their needs, this is living WE vs. ME.
It’s not about me. ME has become WE, the way God intended it to be!Β

What a lovely thought. Are you familiar with Gary Chapman’s 5 Love Languages? Reading this so reminds me of that…learning to love your spouse in their primary language is another way to consider living as WE vs. ME.
Thank you so much for sharing-I’m glad I linked with Hear it on Sunday, Use it on Monday.
Peace and good.

I love this. Me has become we and thanks for the reminder. I always try to put the hubs first, but like you said after years of marriage, the devil can creep in and we can be selfish and I sure do need to learn sometimes to be more selfless! I love those breakfast burittos. They look so yum. I may have to make a quick drive thru to micky d’s now lol! Over from Carissa’s. New follower.

Just a simply gesture of sitting next to him at Cracker Barrel instead of with a child in between, made his day. I will go with this thought of “we vs me” throughout my week! Thanks for sharing.
