The Great Mystery (Part 2) - Simply Helping Him: Marriage Experience from a Help Meet

The Great Mystery (Part 2)

In our own strength, we women tend to have minds like old LP records that are scratched. We take our husband’s faults and replay them in our thoughts over and over again, “he’s insensitive….he’s insensitive…..he’s insensitive…he’s insensitive….”

Since we are “Christian” ladies, and the kids are watching, we don’t rant and rave; we just give him the stone-cold, silent treatment.

Remember the 40,000 thoughts a day? Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.

A good marriage is good because one of both of them have learned to overlook the other’s faults, to love the other as he or she is and to not attempt to change the other or bring him or her to repentance. <—-  Must be Shared!

Remember the promise wives receive…..

“Likewise ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.” 1 Peter 3:1

Women take it for granted that a man will be faithful because it is his Christian duty to be faithful (and it is). It is also a woman’s Christian duty to be a help meet: honoring, obeying, serving and reverencing. Experience has proven that failure on a woman’s part will make it much easier for a man to fail his obligation to the family. A satisfied man will cherish his “comfort zone” enough to resist the “evil woman” and her empty promises.

Counselors agree that in almost all marriage conflicts, both husband and wife share the blame almost equally. A man’s guilt is usually easy to see. A woman’s guilt is less obvious but just as destructive and just as evil. God ordained a woman to be a help meet. She is to provide a haven of rest and satisfaction, and to be a delight to her husband. When she fails to obey God, there is often “hell to pay” at home. When she obeys God, even if she is married to a “lost” man, she will usually reap heavenly results.

Remember, we as a married couple are living out God’s picture of Jesus and His Bride, the church. Knowing this and living as such, can greatly change how you view your husband and/or your marriage.

Praying that God will strength you to love your husband as Jesus loves us, His Bride!

I am so enjoying your thoughts on this matter. It’s such a good thing for our marriages to reflect on these scriptures.

They are mostly the thoughts of Debi Pearl, with a few of mine thrown in 😉 It is so very important to look to scripture for guidance through our marriages. Blessings!

As difficult as it is, with the help of The Holy Spirit, it is a whole lot easier. Thanks to God He does not leave us alone. Great truths you shared here. Visiting from MM. Have a super blessed day!

Too many people take marriage so lightly these days. I think more people need to read this post, and realize that the only way their grandparents’ marriage lasted so long was because of faith, forgiveness, and the courage to work past the bad times! Thanks for sharing. 😀 (Found you through Monday’s blog hop)
