From Our Blessings

Caring for our Blessings

I teach my children that everything we have comes from the Lord. From every article of clothing to the roof over our heads, all of these things are a blessing from Him.

Currently we are working on taking care of the items we’ve been blessed with. Toys are often not taken care of as they should be, rooms are left messy when they are headed out the door.

Giving from our Blessings

Every year we take part in the program Operation Christmas Child. The kids find great joy in putting together a box full of goodies for a child their age. The boxes are packed by them, every item inside their selection. They love being a part of another child’s life, sharing what they love with them!

We also work together as a family to help where we can in providing meals for friends and family that are in need. From death of a loved one, to a child’s major surgery, we have been blessed to be a part of their lives when they needed someone!

Tithing from our Blessings

God loves a cheerful giver! I do not require my children to give a tithe, that is my responsibility. I love this fact, because there have been many times that I have watched them place money in the offering basket at church, of their own accord! This to me is the perfect picture of the cheerful giver God speaks of!

They have been taught what a tithe and what an offering are, and know that it is giving to of the blessings God has given us, to continue His work in our church and community.

Cheerful Chores

We do have an allowance in our home, but it is required that they help around the home cheerfully to receive their monthly allowance. An occasional grumble does not mean that the allowance is taken away, because where is the grace? It is a time to remind our children that they are a part of our home, they need to share some of the responsibilities in the home.

Taking care of our things. We are working on this trait. But old habits die hard. Still praying through this process. And we need grace in the grumbling, until it gets excessive. One of my girls is good as excessive grumbling. Found your comment section this time!

Yes, old habits do die hard! Yes, something got “unchecked” on 2 of my posts, though I had never seen that section before so I don’t know how :/ Anyhow, thanks for emailing me because I probably wouldn’t have known! Blessings!
