Operation Christmas Child: National Collection Week

This week is the National Shoebox Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child. Our family loves to participate in this every year.

I always allow each of my children to pick out the contents for a child their age and the joy that fills their hearts is beautiful to behold! As we pack each shoebox they carefully arrange everything so they can fit all of the goodies that they’ve purchased for a child. We pray for the recipient of our boxes that they would know that Jesus’ love is the most important thing in their lives.

If you’ve never heard of Operation Christmas Child, or if you would like some added blessing and inspiration to your shoebox packing this year I ask that you take a few moments to check out the videos and links below.

This link and the video below tell the incredible story of Alex Nsengimana, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide. Alex recently returned to Rwanda to deliver shoebox gifts to the same orphanage where he received a gift himself. He also found the man who murdered his uncle who is now in prison. He met the man face-to-face and offered him forgiveness. This is a powerful testimony.

Operation Christmas Child is excited to announce a partnership with the one and only Si Robertson from Duck Commander! In the stories they share, they wish to remind their supporters that although the Lord has blessed them with 100 million shoebox gifts over the past 20 years, there is still a great need to reach more children. By following this link you can find the video of Uncle Si packing a shoebox (and other ‘behind the scenes’ videos)

If you’ve never packed a shoebox, you can find the how to’s and inspiration for doing so here.
