Review & Giveaway: Discovering True Identity: A Believer’s Position in Christ

As Christians we all know of Adam and Eve’s fall into sin, and how it affected all of mankind.

We also know of Jesus Christ, His life sacrificed and the salvation it provided all mankind.

Before Christ became our personal Savior we lived a life full of sin. Selfishness, pride, greed, lying, etc.

Following our acceptance of the gift of salvation through Christ, we are made new in Him. Our lives have new meaning, a new focus and we know ultimately where we’re headed ~ heaven!

Yet, along the way Satan, who started first with Adam and Eve, now is after each of us. Some of his favorite darts to throw at us are our past mistakes. If we’re not careful in keeping our eyes on Christ and our hearts grounded in His word we will stumble.

As born again Christians, we’ve been forgiven all our past sins have been washed clean, but Satan is the great deceiver and will still try to use them against us.

Does this sound familiar? Is this what your life is like?

Identity

In Dr. Dean Hackett’s book, “Discovering True Identity: A Believer’s Position In Christ (Freedom Series) he delves into several topics such as; life as a Christian, how sin began, why Christ came, the freedom we have in Christ, and how we can live in this freedom!

Three things that really spoke to my heart were…..

1. The salvation message is presented within the pages.

2. Jesus’ sufferings are compared to things we often face on earth.

(As Christians we “know” that Jesus was tempted as we are, but I loved how it was presented for us to identify with through our common life situations and it covers the healing Jesus’ sufferings provides for each difficulty discussed.)

3. The passion for discipleship and ministry.

These two truly go hand in hand. We must teach and train before we can go forth and minister.

  1. This book is so needed! With the culture we live in, it is so hard for me to find my identity in things that are not of Christ. Even if I know His word, it is so easy to believe the lies of our culture and truly believe God’s promises at the heart level.

    1. Yes, the lies surrounding us try to beat us down, but we just remain strong in Christ! This book really is full of great reminders for our daily lives! Thanks for stoppin by and chattin! Blessings!

  3. As someone who writes about identity a lot, I’m always interested in someone else’s perspective. Thanks for the book recommendation.

  4. This sounds like a good book.. Love that the plan of salvation is so evident. The author’s life experiences give him credentials for making the book authentic.

  5. This sounds like a great book! I do identify myself in Christ; as a plain Christian, people will look at me and ask my religion. My answer is that I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and am saved by his grace. If they want to know what church I go to, they have to ask 🙂
