Christmas 2012, I spoke with my children about learning to give part of our Christmas’ away.
We discussed the abundance of things we have, and that there is very little that we actually need.
I cut back the gifts I purchased for them to 2 items each. 1 thing they needed and 1 thing they really wanted.
The rest of the money that I typically used on gifts for them, we used to help others that truly needed something.
We were thrilled to partner with Good Morning Girls and The Last Well to provide clean drinking water to Liberia, and sponsoring widows & the fatherless through Gospel for Asia.
For Christmas 2013, we are planning to give away more than we did this year. The kiddos are even more involved this year than they were last year.
I ordered Christmas Catalogs and they poured over them each selecting carefully where they would like to send the allotted money this year.
I loved that they were able to find things in Gospel for Asia’s Christmas Catalog that they saw could feed and raise money for a family.
In Gifts from the Stable, they found chickens, goats, rabbits, pigs and water buffalo; they saw that these would be able to provide in more ways than one! By feeding and providing money for a family!
This was a great way for my children to see how the money they give can help a family, yet there are many more ways you can work with Gospel for Asia than their Christmas Catalog.
There are Non-Cash Giving options (stocks, real estate, etc.), Planned Giving options (wills, IRAs, etc.), Cost-Free Giving options (airline miles, Good Search, etc.)
Be sure to stop by their website here, and click on the “Ways to Give” tab to find many ways to help minister to those in Asia.
Whether your heart be for missionaries sharing the gospel, widows, orphans, life giving water, disaster relief, etc. Gospel for Asia has opportunity for you to share in their ministry in these ways, and more!

I feel like I tell you this every time I stop by, but I am ALWAYS inspired by you! Thank you for keeping us centered and focused where our minds should be! And thank you so much for continuing to bless the link-up at Walking Redeemed with your inspiring posts!
Well, since this lil corner and everything “I” write is what God places on my heart, then it is God who inspires you hun! 🙂 I’m so glad that you find what He places on my heart an inspiration, for that is why I write! 🙂 Blessings sis!
What a blessing to share your Christmas with those in need!
Yes and to spend the year planning how to do it again! 🙂 Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!
One appealing way to minister to others is to buy the lovely Celebrations cookbook. It’s partly gluten free and thoroughly Christian. It shows you how to serve by celebrating and all proceeds go to a water program in Asia. http://www.mennonitegirlscancook.ca/p/wash-project-for-celebrations-book.html
So you learn to serve those around you, and you enable the authors to provide clean water to those who need it.
That is wonderful! I will definitely have to check that out! Thank you for stoppin by and sharing! Blessings!
Reaching out is hard if you’re overextended due to college debt. Is College Worth It (link 57) will help you decide on college options that will actually benefit your children rather than saddle them with debt that keeps them from living.
Oh yes, we are just preparing to send our oldest to college in the fall. Thankfully he received a full scholarship! Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!
As goat owners, we see the value and beauty of a goat in people’s lives. These are truly a beautiful, hardworking animal that are a rich gift from God to this world of His. How intriguing that most people think of them as dirty and smelly and ugly — how many of His other gifts do we put down without knowing it? Your project sounds wonderful, and I smile at the happiness it is bringing to all of you.
My article this week is #49, Customer Service and Too Many Kiwi Male Kiwi Plants, which addresses the importance of rewarding, with our dollars, those businesses and people who reach out to their customers with a smile and a genuine gladness to see them.
Reaching out to those that take extra time is such a nice thing to do in this world! I’ve never really been around goats, but they make me smile! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!
That’s really great Misty! What a good way to teach two important lessons- not wanting too much and using what you have to bless others! I’m working on the not wanting too much here. Thanks for hosting a link up 😉
Yes, it was great last year! I’m so excited for this year! 🙂
This is beautiful. Love how you are teaching your children to be givers to those in need. That’s the heart of the Gospel.
Amen! 🙂 Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!
Hi Misty!
Thanks so much for your weekly link up! One problem…I am unable to copy and paste my link into your url space…it says “function disabled.” That makes it difficult to link up, which often keeps me away. Is there a way you could enable that function?
Thanks so much, and God bless you and your blog!
Paula
You’re very welcome! I have my blog locked to prevent stealing my content. You can always use your keyboard to copy and paste (To Copy Use ~ Control + C, To Paste Use ~ Control + V) Sorry it’s a bit of a hassle, but I know a lot of bloggers that have had their content stolen online. Blessings!
thanks so much for hosting. Have a great week.

You’re very welcome! Thanks for stoppin by and linking up! 🙂 Blessings!
We do things every year as well and it is such a blessing. Last year we “adopted” a single mom with six kids. Now that it is just my hubby and me my granddaughter helped shop for the younger kids. Our local radio does the Gospel for Asia fundraiser. We also help support an Indian school in Montana and we sponsor a child from One Child Matters. Thanks for sharing 🙂 Bless You!
It truly is isn’t it? I loved how my children jumped in and got involved! Thank you for stoppin by and sharing! Blessings!
