This great post by Marissa has been moved to our new contributor blog, Marriage Motherhood and Missions. We hope you’ll stop by here to read it.
To be honest, this is a statement still challenges me. But allowing this to be your truth is the best starting place.
So start in your house, is it a place that your family (meaning your husband & your kids) feel safe, comfortable, safe, and loved? This doesn’t mean you need a large home, or fancy decor, or even a crazy alarm system. You just have to fill it with your love, remember, this is where you’ve been called to serve.

Beautiful! Perfectly inspiring! So glad you linked up last week and shared this glimmer of encouragement! Blessings on your week!
🙂 Thanks for hosting and stoppin by! Blessings!
Beautiful thoughts – thanks for sharing. I love the idea of “shining” in this place God has called us to serve, and making our homes beautiful places for our families.
Amen! Oh that we all would ensure we have “beautiful” homes! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!
This is such a beautiful post, and what wonderful suggestions! I love the idea of fresh starts in the spring – and looking for fresh, new ways to brighten my home and heart for my husband and myself. I especially love the concept of setting the table with fresh flowers and candles. My mother always stressed the importance of the dinner table when I was growing up, and I’ve tried to implement this regularly in my marriage.
Spring is a time for new life, new changes and bright sunshine! Add a smile to our faces and we’ll be amazed at the freshness our day has! 🙂 Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!
There is something to be said for the decoration of the dinner table – I used to think it was old-fashioned, or too country for me, but it brings a smile to my face, it doesn’t have to be a gorgeous professional bouquet, just some fresh picked flowers and it works!
It seems we always need reminders to keep going, to keep loving hard. Thank you.
I know I need that reminder daily- luckily God has included it in His word every day for me.
Reminders are so wonderful though! 🙂 I know I need them several times a day! 🙂 Keep loving hard and steppin toward your mark! Blessings!
Great post! Got to remember that I CAN change the world by making a, difference to my family!
Amen! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings as you make a difference to your family!
What a beautiful post. It is hard to remember sometimes to start at home – but that is the best place…because it is sometimes the place we tend to ignore while focusing on areas outside of that realm. Thank you for the reminder. This is our primary mission field…our primary ministry. May we never forget that!
There are so many great avenues to do service for others, but our family has been gifts from the Lord, what better way to serve Him in our homes first, then spread out.
Oh yes, it is so easy to forget that right where we stand is our place of ministry! Blessings sis!
Fresh spring flowers! Oh how I wish as I stare out my window at two feet of snow! Ha! I was a SAHM and loved it, I would never change that… It is the greatest calling EVER! Bless You for sharing this wonderful message 🙂
🙂 Yes, they are so beautiful! Especially the first ones of the spring! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! 🙂
I so hear you about the snow… it makes me want spring all the more! We’ve done twigs in the winter in place of flowers and then we attach hand-drawn flowers, or even snowflakes to dress up our table… but the flowers are the best.
Good morning! I’m sharing my Fresh Strawberry Cream Torte today for my Homemaking Linkup. I hope you’ll join us if you haven’t already!
Blessings,
Mrs. Sarah Coller
It sounds so yummy! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!
I wrote a post one time about the song – this little light of mine. I think if we focus on ‘our light’ we miss the true meaning of the light of the world. No man is good, nor can truly do good without the Holy Spirit. I’d like to change the words to to Reflect more about Jesus Light – instead of making it about me. Me, I’ll mess up eventually – then what? Great post – love your insight here – and praying many read and grab hold!
Thanks Rebecca – it is hard to realize it’s not us doing the work, but the Holy Spirit – and that is alright that we are going to mess up – glad you enjoyed the post!
So very true! It isn’t about our light, it’s about the light we’ve been given inside of us! 🙂 Thank you for stoppin by and sharing! Blessings!
