As a teenager I never wanted for attention from boys.
I rarely got along with girls, so I grew up hanging out and quickly learned to like boys.
As a young adult, I worked in a mostly male atmosphere, and didn’t lack attention there either.
In those days, (and now when I do it for hubby) I took extra time and care to ensure I looked my very best……being as perfect as I could POSSIBLY be.
I’ve come to realize something that women fight every day.
I’m not perfect.
The “worst” part is…..I never will be….
Funny thing is that what I once dreamed would terrify me…..
Actually frees me!
I no longer stress over my frizzy/curly hair, my almost -0 acne issues, my frail fingernails, my dark circles under my eyes, my eczema prone skin, etc.
Do these things frustrate or irritate me at times?
Absolutely.ย
Yet, knowing that I can’t be perfect, NO MATTER what I do IS FREEING! It allows me to slow down, I don’t have to spend an hour getting ready for the day.
Most importantly it takes the focus off of what I look like on the outside (which is vanity), to allow me to seek the Lord and beautify the heart and mind inside me.
My looks won’t get me anywhere worth while.
My heart and a life dedicated to Christ……
The possibilities are limitless!
Accept your imperfections!
They are yourย uniqueย gifts from the Lord!
He is able to use all that is given back to Him for His glory!

“perfection infection”. love it. ๐ Yes, it’s time women started loving themselves instead of comparing. That is the root of so much dissatisfaction. Very good words!

Perfectionism is something I can certainly relate to; I like to call myself a reformed perfectionist, because staying close to God helps me tame those unrealistic expectations!

This was (part of) the topic at a recent women’s retreat I attended. Being “perfect” is one of the images of women (and men too, for that matter) that media and society constantly pushes on us. Models are air brushed and the celebrities we worship have cooks, nannies, maids, hairstylists, make up artists, personal shoppers, stylists, etc – yet we compare ourselves to them. What is “perfect” anyway? At the retreat we were encouraged to look at some Old Testament female heroes, who courageously broke the molds of their culture and did what God asked them to do. That seems to be something worth striving for, as opposed to the unreachable goal of worldly perfection. Thanks for this great post ๐

What a great idea! I love it! ๐ It is incredible that we think we can compare ourselves to those that have so much “help” that we don’t. They aren’t real and real is the only thing that matters in my opinion! Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!
