Forgiveness

I’ve been forgiven. More times than I can count. By more people than I probably even know about.

I’ve been forgiven. By the only One who truly matters. He who died for me, on a tree. Hung there, bled there, gave up Himself for me.

Forgiven. I am forgiven.Β

So why……is it hard for me to forgive? Even those closest to me?

I don’t have to bleed, hang or die to offer forgiveness.

Yet, this……forgiveness is hard for me.

I could blame it on the mental and emotional abuse from my past. I could say it’s just a part of being human….a sinner.

While all those play a part….they are truth….I do not want, no, I won’t allow these things to win.

I want to forgive as I have been forgiven. I don’t want to hold grudges when I’ve been wronged, or when someone I love has been.

I want to truly live out “Let Go and Let God”.

Holding onto things wears you down. Emotionally. Mentally. Eventually physically as well.

Life becomes more exhausting, your spirit sours and your attitude becomes bitter.

Peace and an unforgiving spirit can not abide in the same heart. Β <—- Tweet

You must be willing to let go. Let God handle the situation, the person. He’s better at it anyway.

Forgiveness is a gift. From God. He’s given us the gift.

We in turn must share this gift. It was freely given to us. Now we must give it away ~ freely!Β

  2. Misty, you closed this link up party fast! Sorry I couldn’t get to it yesterday. This is so great. I was just outlining a post for forgiveness yesterday. Great minds think alike πŸ™‚ Blessings to you.

  3. This is SO good girl!! I have the HARDEST time letting go and letting God when it comes to forgiveness. And what right do i have to feel that way? I have NONE! I mean what would we do if God thought of us or treated us how we treat situations we are in with people…with our LOVED ones? EEK! I shudder to think!

    1. Yes, so true. We should shudder to think what our lives would be like if God treated us the way we treat others. Holding grudges, not forgiving and forgetting. We must hand it over to Him! He will take control of it all, if we just let go! Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!

  4. Misty ~ Love this post!
Ah forgiveness … it is hard and should be because it gives us a teeny tiny peek at the meaning of grace and how awesome it is that God forgives us without question (as long as we repent!). When I realize I’m holding onto something I always think about standing in front of God at the Bema judgment and him tripping over times when I didn’t or was slow to forgive and that usually propels me forward! πŸ™‚

  8. I love the application of “Let go and Let God” to forgiveness. I believe that’s really what we have to do in these situations.

    No link-up today? I can’t find it.

    1. Yes, it truly is what we have to do. Not so easy sometimes, but we must. I don’t know what was wrong with the link up, but I fixed it now! πŸ™‚ Thanks for letting me know πŸ™‚
