Simple Saturday

Hubby is away tonight. Just in time my mom sent me a package and inside were two of my favorite movies! Funny Girl and Funny Lady. So I am off as soon as I finish my short, sweet and simple Saturday blog post!

I recently read 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp and began counting…..not for anyone, not just because of her book.

See, I didn’t read the book for quite a while because it seemed like a “fad” and I don’t participate in “fads’. After reading a lot of reviews, seeing such a split Β in opinions. I decided that I needed to read it for myself and make my own decision about the book. I am so glad that I did.Β Β I needed to, life tends to get me down sometimes. God directed me to this book because I needed it.

I don’t intend on sharing all my “countings” here, but might once and awhile. Maybe that will become part of my “Simple Saturday” posts, seems fitting.

Counting tonight….

Songs made up by my peanut

Walking the fair with my lil boo’s hand in mine

Quiet nights for mommy movie time

Simple Saturday’s with no plans

May your weekend be simple….

May we be thankful each and every day

Blessings friends!

  1. I, too, never read the book. I have really enjoyed reading the gratitude lists that bloggers have posted. They have made me pause and think about my life and how I have so much to be grateful for, especially in all the little things we might normally overlook.

    Thanks for sharing at NOBH!

  2. I agree 100% that couple time is imperative, but it doesn’t just happen! We must be it happen or Satan will win!

Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoyed your movies.

Thank you for linking up with The Weekend Blog Hop! I hope you will join us this week!

    1. Thanks for stoppin by! Couple time doesn’t just happen, wouldn’t it be nice if it did? πŸ˜‰ I did enjoy my movies, but must make up for lost sleep at some point! LOL! Blessings!

  3. Well, at least now I know why/how so many people seemed to put numbered bits at the end of their posts. I meant to ask some time; it confused the socks off me, b/c I just had no idea where it seemed to come from. Nice to have it explained so clearly. Now I “get it”. And re: movies. I like older ones, too. Recently, my husband and I watched “How to Steal a Million” with Audrey Hepburn and “Singing in the Rain.” USUALLY, we head for the funny mysteries or musicals. Maybe this evening we’ll just dig through our stack; you dropped it into my mind.

    1. Yes it was a while before I knew what it was too! LOL! I have never heard of “How to Steal a Million” and I LOVE Audrey! Singing in the Rain I heard was coming back to the theater? I’ve gotta see if that’s true! Thanks for stoppin by πŸ˜‰ Blessings!

      1. Another neat Audrey one is called “Charade”. Cary Grant is the co-star. It’s a mystery, from the early 60s, and not perfect all the time, I guess, but we have loved it and watched it many times. Even knowing the answers, etc., doesn’t remove the fun. Just thought I’d toss another one in your lap.

  4. Funny thing is that when i started counting, I hadn’t even read the book yet. I didnn’t know it existed. I don’t do news to much. I actually stumbled across Ann Voskamp though Incourage. I read a post by her and it hit me straight in the heart, so I visited her blog. I didn’t know for several weeks, how “popular” she was. I am so grateful I did. Counting has changed me, changed my family and our dynamic. The book only encouraged my journey in counting. I finally read it about 3 months after I started counting. I do post mine publicly. I know reading others’ gifts has only opened my eyes up even more to His grace all around me. I hope and pray I can do the same for someone else.

    1. It definitely changes your life and those around you! I hadn’t heard about it much until I started blogging, so my opinion was those of other bloggers and their readers. I finally picked it up for myself πŸ˜‰ Thanks for stoppin by girly πŸ˜‰ Blessings friend!

    1. Me too! πŸ™‚ It definitely has changed me as well. My kiddos and I are spending a week having our prayers only being “thankful” prayers, not “asking” prayers. It has been a challenge for them, but they are learning to reword things, realizing that God does answer our “asking” prayers all the time! I loved having a movie night! I hope to be able to finish the other one tonight! πŸ™‚ Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

  5. I was hesitant to read this too after seeing all the controversy and had actually decided not to. But then my mother in law randomly bought it for me after seeing me struggle with postpartum depression after this third baby and it was exactly what I needed to read at that moment to refocus my thoughts.

And I’ve seen “Funny Girl” (a long time ago) but what is “Funny Lady”?

    1. Isn’t it amazing how God works things into our lives when the timing is JUST RIGHT? I LOVE it! Funny Lady is the sequel to Funny Girl! πŸ™‚ It’s definitely a MUST see if you like Funny Girl πŸ˜‰

    1. So very true! After finding my movies that my peanut hid I stayed up WAY past my bedtime watching a fav “Funny Girl” with Barbara Streisand! I’m thinking I’m gonna settle in for the sequel tonight πŸ˜‰ Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

  6. I too didn’t get on this fad train. However, I have been reading it over the last little while and seeing it’s blessings as well.

    1. I’m glad that you are seeing blessings too! Having your own opinion of things is important, otherwise we’d all be the same! How boring that would be! LOL! Thanks for stoppin by πŸ˜‰ Blessings!
