The hang up I find myself in on a daily, if not hourly basis, is feeling overwhelmed by the job of truly ministering all the way to my little boys’ hearts. To truly minister to someone, you must care for the needs of someone else, usually at a loss to your own human needs. Of course as a Christian that includes physical needs, emotional needs and spiritual needs, right? And that sounds like a huge, practically impossible job.

Love your post! Yes, teaching our children to serve others and rearing them toward Christ is the most important job we have as parents. It is a privilege to teach and watch them grow in His love. Seeing His callings on their lives are part of the reward. Praying for them to answer them is another part of the responsibility.

I appreciate how you emphasize loving and serving others, as well as caring for the things God has blessed us with. I am going to re-think my wording when I ask my children to help. 🙂
It is important to serve the Lord in whatever capacity that we are able. Including our children in that is very important, for how they see us serving is likely how they will choose to serve when they grow up! Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!
That is exactly how I started Jen – I changed a couple of words in my daily dialect and that led to new ways of thinking and looking at other things! Good luck!
I LOVE how setting the table is not a chore, but a chance to serve. I wish I had presented things that way when mine were littles. I’ll have to remember that when my grandchildren are here.

It is such a small change, but one that has made a huge impact. Even in how I ask my kids to set the table as changed. It’s amazing how the Lord can work in our words when we think through what we are really saying.
