I Went Too Far with Faithful Friday Link Up

Have you ever felt like you’ve gone too far?

Like there’s no way to get back on track from where you’ve been or where you are?

Decisions come our way every day and struggles do too. In the midst of the difficulties of life, it can be hard to make the right decision. Especially if we aren’t living for the Lord, or if we don’t take the time to see His will prioer to making a decision.

One wrong decision can lead to a path full of them. Once you start down that path it can be very difficult to find your way back.

I often remember Christian from The Pilgrim’s Progress, which I think of going off the path God has for me. He got lost a few times on his journey and faced tremendous difficulty when he made a bad decision. Yet, he continued on for the promise of what was ahead was too wonderful!

I’ve made my share of bad decisions throughout my life, and many great difficulties came my way. A lot of them I will face every day for my entire life.

There were countless days I felt as if, and convinced myself that I had gone too far. Going back to the path God wanted me on was impossible. So I gave up. I stopped trying to find my way, and chose to try and cope with my life. Alone. I didn’t want any help.

From alcohol to cigarettes, blackouts and filthy language, to anorexia, I was a mess. I tried to deal with my life alone, and I found myself more lost than ever before.

I wish I could pin point the moment in time where I knew I couldn’t do it alone anymore. I remember sitting on the kitchen floor once with a drink in my hand, crying because I had come to “need” alcohol after the kids went to bed. Smoking became difficult to hide from my kiddos, it was more stress than it was worth, so I eventually quit.

I have been down many more difficult roads than alcohol and cigarettes. There are the tip of an iceberg.

God is faithful. He is the deliverer. He is the healer and the lifter of my head.

He is full of forgiveness, mercy and grace. His love is unconditional and everlasting.

Romans 8:35-39, are my favorite verses, for I know God’s love is more than I can ever imagine. My life was rescued because of His love for me.

Ephesians 3:20, is my life verse, for I never would have imagined God could take my life and used all the bad for good.

No matter where you are. No matter where you’ve been.

God is waiting for you.

    Misty,

You are a writer after my own heart. Transparency can be so difficult but also extremely cathartic. I love your honesty and and ability to share. Keep going friend, God has a plan for you.

Yes it can be so hard, but I truly believe that to change the world for Christ, we as Christians must be real. Being fake does not show the grace and mercy each of us receives from God! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Blessings!

That’s lovely, Misty! I am sure that many will be blessed by your transparency here. We are so blessed that we don’t have to come UP to God’s level, because we can’t. He meets us where we are! Thanks for hosting today.
