When was the last time you saw a perfect kid?
I don’t mean perfectly dressed or perfectly mannered, for perfection is all encompassing!
The answer is, as we all know deep within our hearts, that there truly are NO perfect kids!
Something we don’t often think about or realize though, is that God selected the children we have as PERFECT FOR US!
How can this be? What is the purpose?
It is to grow us into the parents that He created us to be! He is using our children to grow us up in Him. Through our children’s imperfection we must learn to depend on Him, receive guidance from Him, and become more like Him!
Our children will require patience, training, discipline, but most of all they need our love.
Is this not true of ourselves as adults and parents?
God has to be patient with us for we try Him day in and day out, all day long. Whether we truly realize this or not.
God must train us, for we don’t come in a nice, neat package perfectly ready to serve Him and fulfill His will.
God requires us to learn discipline, putting Him first, His ways, and His will. None of this comes easy, it requires discipline of our mind, actions and heart.
God’s love is everlasting, eternal and unconditional. This is what we need most.
As parents, we are called to love our children just as they are. Then we are to go to our knees in prayer for direction on how to train them in becoming the men and women that God created them to be!
We are an essential part of God’s plan for raising up men and women that love and serve Him!
May we truly love, train, disciple and be patient with our children, as God does the same for us!
