Embracing My Imperfect Body

I’m a woman.
I’m a wife.
I’m a mom.

I have a lot of other titles I could list, much like you I’m sure.
My family keeps me busy, I’m always in the move.
When I have “down” time, I have to find something to keep me busy. It drives me crazy to not be doing something.

I always chuckle to myself when the Dr. asks me if I find time to work out in the midst of my life as a mom. My response in the past was for them to look at my children, that they kept me on the go and on my toes constantly.

This year, I realized how much I needs a couple hours a week to myself. I wanted to find something to do to de-stress and zone out.

As a teenager, I grew up spending a few hours a week in the gym with my dad. He’s the PT Guru/Energizer Bunny of the US Navy.

I have struggled with my mommy “pouch” since having kiddos, and I have come to realize that I wasn’t doing my best to stay the woman my husband married. I had begun to let myself go.

So since January, I have been at the gym 2x/week working out. This benefits myself, my hubby and my kiddos. I get alone time and they get time together.

I’m no supermodel, strong woman, or Olympian, but I am working to maintain my body. As imperfect as it will always be, it is the one that God has given me and I’m doing my best to care for it.

Embracing yet another imperfect side of me…..knowing imperfect is all we truly are….

Oh my goodness! We’re doing fertility treatments, and I’ve gained weight like a crazy. This post is so uplifting – I do a fairly good job of embracing my body, but the past several months have been so frustrating! Thanks for this timely reminder!

Stopping by from the Desire to Inspire link up, and I just have to say I know how you feel! I am currently expecting my second child, and I have found myself actually MISSING going to the gym, and not just because I want to lose weight. I actually ENJOYED it! I miss running, sweating, jamming out to my music for an hour of my day.

I hope you continue with your success! =)

    Sending you sunshine,
    RACHAEL

Kuddos on making it to the gym 2 days a week. Since the beginning of the year I made a commitment to pursue a healthy lifestyle this year. I believe God wants us to care for the “temples” He’s given us. But exercise is the aspect I struggle with the most.

Thanks for sharing. Hopping in from the H@H Blog Hop.

Yes, a healthy lifestyle doesn’t just mean working out. My biggest struggle is that I like to bake and I like food too much :/ When I’m working out consistently I desire to make less goodies, because I know how many calories I’m burning and how many are in what I just ate! LOL! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

I think we have an either or view of exercise. We don’t. Or we do. But, just because we do, doesn’t mean we are trying to be super models, or that we aren’t happy with our bodies. I see exercise as beneficial on many levels. It clears my mind. It builds my strength and energy. It helps my attitude of contentment with my “mom” body-because I haven’t given up.
