Five Minute Friday

Afraid I am Not…..

Let’s just write and not worry if it’s just right or not. Here’s how to play along:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in {you can grab the button code in my blog footer}
3. Go leave some comment props for the five minute artist who linked up before you {and if you love us, consider turning off word verification for the day to make it easier for folks to say howdy}

It’s a great way to catch your breath at the end of a long week.

OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes for the prompt:

Afraid

Afraid…..I used to be afraid I wasn’t good enough

Not a good enough child of God, wife or mother….

I beat myself up all the time about how I needed to be better

Just creating more havoc on myself and my family

Stress and fear do not mix well

I couldn’t hold onto my family as well as living in fear

The stress drove me over the edge

The fear kept me pulling away instead of drawing near

Afraid is no longer who I am or what I am about

I am learning that I am imperfect and that’s ok

The difference is that I am striving to be imperfectly perfect in Christ!

Afraid is not what the Lord has for me…..or for you….

Fear is not of Him….

Peace He gives us….

Strength He provides us….

Alone we will never be….

He will always be with me……with you…..

I understand the looks of fear on other’s faces…..

Fear of the unknown….

Fear of their failures winning them over….

Fear that grips the body and you think it’ll never let go

I have a God who is bigger than my fear…..than your fear….

He is the love that I always need and never want to lose

My Friend that is second to none

My Father who holds me close when I am down

Afraid…..no longer I am……

  1. Fear. If we let it control us it can become our idol. I recently heard David Nasser talk about fear. It was amazing. Thank you for linking up with the Prairies this week.

  2. Reading this I am reminded of the verse, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18) Praise God that He has delivered us from fear!

  3. I just love your description of striving to be imperfect in His perfection.
It says it all … Christ in me, my hope of glory! Happy FMF and FFF!
Yes, I found you at both Link-ups.
    Much love
    Mia

  4. Oh how I can relate to your words here. Thanks for sharing your heart. Getting over fear of not being…enough…is a daily struggle for me. I’m a work in-progress for sure. 🙂

  5. Love your post here, reminding us that we don’t have to be perfect to be His, we ARE perfect, Because we are His! Stopping in from FMF…blessings, Danielle PS Love your site!

  6. Misty, I can hear bits of No More Perfect Moms in your post! There are bits in mine too. So glad you have let go of some of those worries…I am trying too (it’s hard when I know that I will mess up my kids at least a bit–every momma does).

    1. It’s so funny that NMPM came along now, it is something that I have been realizing over the last year or so. When I received the email from HAH I couldn’t believe the write up on the application to be a part of the launch team! It was so inline with what I had been working towards that it was truly a God thing! Blessings hun!
