Number 5 Would Be…..

Hello, all! I am Bernadette, aka, the Barefoot Hippie Girl. And this is Mr. Hippie and our offspring, BMV (10), Freckles (8), LC (5), and Meres (18 months). Well, Meres wasn’t 18 months in this picture, but everyone was looking in the proper direction, so this was our 2012 family photo.=)

Our brood of Barefoot Hippies calls the Mitten State home. Mr. Hippie and I have been married for 11 years. The best of years of my life. Though his driving has added to my grey hair count. We look at marriage as a partnership. Not same roles, but working together for the same goals. We are life partners, running partners, parenting partners, traveling partners, swimming partners, home business partners and ministry partners. We own a roofing and siding business. And we home school.

My blog, Barefoot Hippie Girl, is where I share my overflowing thoughts. I should say, I am not a Hippie, though I do many Hippie things-like home birth, home school, and gardening. But I do love being barefoot. All the time. Excepting January and February, when my feet tend to turn purple from the cold. Then I throw on a pair of socks.  And I don’t run barefoot either.

My blogging motivation is to point my readers to the Lord Jesus Christ as their source of strength and renewal. I love Isaiah 40:30-31-even the youths grow faint and weary, but, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not grow weary.  They shall walk and not faint. I try to filter each post I write through this verse. So whether through humor, or devotional posts, recipes or my “hippie method” series-my goal for you is to be encouraged, to grow closer to God, and to renew your strength in this race of life.

As I join this series with Misty, I will be writing about ministry and ministering with your spouse. I am not married to a pastor. We are not missionaries. But we do minister a lot together. Our chief end is to glorify God-and we try to do that together, as much as possible. We are leaving in less than 2 weeks for Asia to visit missionary friends, and lead children’s sessions for a mission organization’s annual training time.
