Three weeks seems like a long time, but at the end it seems to have flown by. They have become a part of your family. So how do you say goodbye?
You wonder what they honestly thought of you and your family. Will their memory of their time with you be pleasant? Did you do enough, show them enough unique American places?
In the end, you can change nothing. You must rest in the decisions you’ve made along the way. The prayers prior to their arrival and during their stay must be rested upon.
Your family is not perfect, just as theirs is not. Stressing over the actions of your kiddos and thinking how they and their siblings might be “better behaved” will not allow you the opportunity to truly enjoy your time with them.
Being thankful for the time you’ve been given ~ for the opportunity to be a part of their lives, even for just a short time. Thankful for them being a part of your life, for touching you by being a part of your family, your home. This is most important ~ being thankful for the time.

How neat that aside from the idea of them coming from a different family, your words of advice transcend to how our time should be with our own children! Hopping over from NOBH. 🙂
Love and God Bless,

Many [MANY] years ago I had an exchange student for a few weeks. The problem? My family was poor, the child wasn’t. It really made things tough. And part of it was to open the door of the Lord to her. I have been a missionary connected to a number of nations now, and that has opened my heart forever and ever. Wish I could have done it better more than 30 years ago… but I’m content with my many dear ones who pass in and out of my home now. Such a good opportunity for folks like you. Blessings.

In the end you can change nothing. You just have to rest in the prayers offered, in the decisions made, and simply in Him. Thanks for this reminder to not second guess but to simply give thanks.
