Whatever Wednesday….Disappointment

Everyone experiences disappointment during their lives. I am finding as I grow older that a lot of the disappointment in my life is due to expectations. Often times expectations I’m not really aware that I have, until disappointment hits.

Expectation in people is sure to bring disappointment. Our expectation is typically based on what we want and/or what we would do. No one person is the same, therefore your expectation(s) at some point will lead to disappointment.

Expectation in life is unrealistic. Each day is new, yet also bring its own challenges and difficulties. Going into a day expecting thus and such to happen is setting yourself up for disappointment. Sometime during the day, something will go awry. Whether it be kiddos being difficult, the dog being sick, hubby bringing extra people for dinner, etc.

How do we avoid disappointment? We must set our minds (from the moment we rise) on Christ. In Him alone lies perfection. All things good are found in Him. There lies the only One we can expect to always be there, at any moments prayer.

Throughout our day we must look to Him for strength. When we find ourselves having a disappointed spirit, He is who we must look to. He will pick up up and place us on solid ground.

Expect the unexpected. Learn to lean on, learn of and love our Savior. In Him our expectations are safe.

“I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
