Fathers in Our Lives

Fathers….this weekend is about honoring and celebrating the fathers in our lives. Whether it be your father, your husband, or your father figure, this weekend is about them. They work hard to provide for their families, they make time for their families when they’d rather watch TV or sleep on the couch. Fathers give of themselves daily. Sometimes we tend to overlook all they do for their family. Let it not be this weekend.

Make sure you stop and tell your father how much he means to you. Thank him for always giving of himself. Thank him for putting up with you all those years, as a parent you now know just how hard it can be! Pray God’s blessing on him for the coming year!

Our husbands deserve the same respect and thanks. Even though they are not our fathers, they are the father to our children. Show your children how much he means to you. (for they learn of you remember) If you want your children to love and respect their father, you have to show the same to him. Thankfulness, kindness and love go a long way. Be sure to thank him for the specific ways he touches your heart as the father to your children. Pray God’s blessing on your husband, his work and your family for the upcoming year.

Help your children make something for their dad this weekend. My kids love to make their daddy things, and he loves to receive them. Bought things are very generic, it is the things made of their little hands, created with love and given with pride and smiles that make the day extra special!

While you’re going through this weekend, don’t forget to get on your knees, thank your heavenly Father for all He has done and continues to do for you and your family. His love, protection and provision are all wonderful blessings indeed! Thank Him for His Son! Spend time alone with Him, grow your relationship with Him, just as you work to grow your relationship with your husband and children. He desires to draw closer unto you!

If your father is not in your life, I encourage you to reach out to your heavenly Father! He truly is all you need! He will carry you throughout your life, every circumstance and love you through it all!

If your father has gone on before you, I pray God’s peace and strength for you this weekend. Treasure your memories.

Love the fathers in your life. They truly are special. God knew we needed them.
