Discretion vs. Simplemindedness

Definition: Recognizing and avoiding words, actions, and attitudes that could bring undesirable consequences

* Choose my words carefully

* Practice good manners

*Listen to criticism

* Not make fun of others

* Turn down any invitation to do wrong

Week One Activities

(Practicing ~ Choosing my words carefully)

* Practice praying and counting to 5 for kiddos, 10 for adults before speaking

Week Two Activities

(Practicing ~ Good manners)

* Encourage all family members to use Thank You and Please at all times, reminding each other kindly

Week Three Activities

(Practicing ~ Listening to criticism)

* Have private conversations when a topic of a criticism nature must be discussed. Ensure parents that you allow the kiddos to speak their hearts and minds to you, listen to them too.

Week Four Activities

(Practicing ~ Not making fun of others)

* Remind each other that we are to treat others as we would want to be treated.

At family time discuss how each one feels when someone makes fun of them.

Week Five Activities

(Practicing ~ Turning down any invitation to do wrong)

* Encourage and teach children to bring any invitation they receive to a parent.

This will encourage open conversation and allow for discussion of the positives and negatives to that particular invitation.
