Contentment vs. Covetousness

Contentment vs. Covetousness

Definition: Realizing that true happiness does not depend on material conditions.

I Will….

* Be thankful for what I do have

* Not complain about what I don’t have

* Not always ask for “one more”

* Value people above things

* Want less and give more

Week One Activities

(Teaching ~ Be thankful for what I do have)

* Begin a family list of Euchariesto….contribute over dinner

Week Two Activities

(Teaching ~  Not complain about what I don’t have)

* Discuss all of the things that God has you with blessed above and  beyond your needs

Week Three Activities

(Teaching ~ Not always ask for “one more”)

* Pull out a game you haven’t played in a long time….showing that new isn’t always needed or better

Week Four Activities

(Teaching ~ Value people above things)

* Spend time one on one with each other….

Take a walk, place a game just the two of you,

Week Five Activities

(Teaching ~  Want less and give more)

* Invest time at the Food Bank or Soup Kitchen in town.

This makes our wants lessen and gives more of ourselves.

  1. We’ve had a nasty case of the “gimmies” and the “I wants” around here – and not just with the children. Thank you for sharing this at just the right time! Thanks for linking up at Thrive @ Home!

  2. These are some very very GREAT things to practice and I like how you incorporate each into a lesson for your family, this is such a great example of how we should teach through example and not just through lecture. Thank you for sharing, I’m stopping by from Denise In Bloom and I pray that you have a beautiful weekend!
