Today is Friend Friday and I’m excited to have Melissa here in my corner! I love the *idea* of decorating for the new seasons, but rarely do. I’m hoping that I will feel the *push* she is giving me! 🙂 Make sure you swing by her corner and say hello!
Hi guys!  Melissa here from Adventures with Captain Destructo.  I have been super excited about fall being almost here.  So with that theme in mind, I decided to plan a fall themed meal for you guys.  I plan on surprising my hubby with this one Friday since I don’t work on Fridays and he does.  I figure I can cook a good home cooked meal and maybe even decorate some.

For appetizers, I am going to make figs with mascarpone and honey.  This recipe works very well for me since when we bought the house there was a small fig bush on the side of it that the previous owners had imported from Serbia where they had lived prior to moving to the US.  Because of the history of it, I don’t want to get rid of the plant even though it has gotten huge.  Now I finally have a decent sounding recipe to try.
My two main courses are going to be a pumpkin soup served in a pumpkin and maple seared chicken with squash and sweet potatoes.

This soup gets really good reviews and I have always wanted to make it.

Stopping by from Company Girl Coffee
We started on our fall foods yesterday….pumpkin waffles in the morning and ended the day with a huge pear arugula gorgonzola salad. Hoping to find some good soups for when it cools down.

Pumpkin Roll’s are soooo yummy! 🙂 Blessings sis!
The trees were just starting to change a little when we left for vacation so I am curious to see what they look like when we go home. I am hoping this pumpkin roll is as good as my mom’s. She said the recipe looked similar, but I forgot to bring her recipe on vacation.
I’m going to try the fig appetizer. It sounds fantastic. I live in my Grandmother’s house and there is a fig tree which is older than me (that’s pretty old) in the back yard. It produces an abundance of figs every year, more than enough for both me and the squirrels. And the birds. 🙂
Visiting here from Lost in the Prairies.
Have a good weekend.

That is so cool that you have a fig tree right at home! 🙂 Hope you enjoy it! Blessings!
See the squirrels and birds all leave the figs alone. They just go to waste. That is why this appetizer excited me so much. Finally a good use for the millions of figs.
Sounds really yummy! Pumpkin soup looks beautiful…
Doesn’t it? I think so too! 🙂
That is why it was my very favorite pumpkin soup recipe. I love how festive and fall-ey it looks!
I smiled at your fall-themed post because I”ve always loved fall. Living in South Carolina for over 30 years, we relish the cooler days and lower humidity. The one element I’ll add to your perfect scenario will be acorns. Even though I’m almost 50 years old, I can’t resist picking up acorns whenever I encounter them. I scatter them among my fall decor for an authentic touch. Visiting from Be Not Weary, and glad I did 🙂
Acorns! Yes! My kiddos often bring them to me 😉 They are a simple easy fall decor! Blessings!
Acorns are awesome to decorate with as well. My mom actually has fake acorns that look very real that I could have used. Fall is my favorite season as well. It is cooler, but still warm enough to do lots of fun outside activities.
