Created to be His Help Meet Book Study

Week One

“Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time there was a silly young girl who grew up to learn what it means to be a help meet ~ God’s secret for a heavenly marriage. I start this book with the words “Once upon a time” because it really is a wonderful story come true. It should, and could, be your story too. It is God’s gift to every woman. 

This book reveals God’s plan for obtaining a heavenly marriage. It is the combined voice of thousands of women who have sent me their stories of heartbreak, or of the glory of a love recaptured. The following pages are filled with simple instructions, examples, and many letters from women, some doing the wrong thing and reaping the bitter fruit, and others doing it God’s way and drinking from a fountain of life. 

God commands older women to teach the younger women the wonders of wifehood. I can think of no better way to obey this command than to write to you of God’s beautiful love plan. Regardless of what kind of person you have been in the past, with instructions from God’s Word, you can become a heavenly-gift bride. You can still be your man’s dream come true, and in the process  your dreams will come true also. 

You do have a choice in how your life plays out. Some of you are fighting your present situation and making no more progress than someone fighting quicksand. You fight your husband, and every verbal punch you land leaves a bruise on you as well. It is time to stop struggling in strife, bitterness, frustration, and disappointment. You are about to read God’s plan for a joyful marriage. It has worked for me, for my daughters, for my mother, my grandmother, and my grandmother’s mother. It has worked for many other young and older ladies alike. We didn’t just happen to marry perfect, or even saved me, but we all learned to be help meets to our men, resulting in heavenly marriages. 

You are going to learn God’s design for a woman, the place of fulfillment as a properly-fitted helper. We will discuss what God’s Word says of a help meet; what she does, what she shouldn’t do, and the rewards she can expect. Each day is a decision, each hour a challenge, and each response starts you toward either the quicksands of divorce of the solid ground of being blessed “heirs together of the grace of life”. 

…..my marriage began rather spontaneously, but it didn’t begin perfectly. In our early years, I experienced a considerable amount of defeat. On one occasion, I even threw rocks at my husband. Eventually, I grew out of that, but from time to time I threw barbed words ~ and with much greater accuracy, pain and effectiveness. Through God’s grace, I finally discovered his way to a heavenly marriage. I didn’t step into it; it worked its way into me, graciously from God. It has been worth every sacrifice many times over. It is my urgent desire to share this glorious knowledge with all young women. If you will turn to God, asking Him to open your eyes to His instruction for wives, He will open His Word to you, just as he did for me those many years ago. So, as my mother taught me ~ so, I teach you. ~ Debi “

There is no marriage that is perfect ~ we all struggle, succeed, struggle, succeed, etc. in our own ways and at different times.

No matter where you are in your marriage right now, you can always improve!

Introduction

PESTO SAUCE RECIPE

A friend of mine recently was making her own Pesto Sauce using Garlic Scapes and I was intrigued! While at our farmers market I found garlic scapes for sale, so I decided I must get some to try my hand at making Pesto Sauce.

I started with this recipe and tweaked it to make it my own!

Ingredients:

14 Garlic Scapes

1 C. Dry Basil Leaves

1/2 Tsp. Kosher Salt

1 1/4 C. Olive Oil (tweak to your desired consistency)

1/2 C. Parmesan Cheese

Chop the bulb off the end of the scapes

Cut them down to 1-2 inches chunks

Chop the garlic scapes in a food processor

Until they take on this appearance

Add the basil and salt to the food processor.

Mix the oil in slowly.

Add parmesan cheese and process until completely mixed in.

Spoon the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze.

When frozen pop out and transfer to a plastic freezer bag.

Pull them out when you take your meat out of the freezer for your meal!
