Teaching Tuesday ~ Lessons from my Hubby 2

Have you ever sat back, watched and listened to your hubby with your children? Did you pause and notice how God is working in them as a parent?

Over the past 2 years I have watched God work in my husband’s role as a father. It has been amazing to watch and listen to. Most of all though, I learn. Yes, I learn.

Learning from my husband has not always been how I’ve seen things. I typically do not like to ask for help. I’m stubborn, independent and like things done a certain way. These do not make for a teachable spirit.

Watching my husband grow as a father, has made me really stop, think ~ wonder. Am I changing ~ growing as a mother? Are my bad habits being curbed and eliminated? Or am I stuck in a rut?

God is teaching me ~ yet not the way I ever expected it. He is using my husband to teach me. This is humbling for me.

I always wanted to be a mom, loved being a big sister, loved babysitting, dreamed about it. Through some bad decisions in my young adult life, I picked up some bad habits. Impatience, yelling and arguing to name a few.

My husband has had “surprise” babies, never really planned or dreamed about it.

Yet……he is teaching me. Humbling.

I am encouraged that I am able to see God working ~ to see how He is teaching me. I am thankful that God is giving me a more teachable spirit. I’m not perfected in that area yet, but making progress.

Patience, kind words, mercy and grace ~ all things I see and am beginning to learn from my husband.

Being humbled……yet thankful for the humbling…..

Praying for teachable spirits for us all…..

Appreciate your admonition and your prayer : ) Funny how much we can learn from someone when we are not judging or critiquing them : ) Blessings to you!

So true, judging is “easy” to do without even realizing it. I have been discussing this with my kiddos recently. Thank you for stopping by! 🙂 Blessings!

I am constantly being taught by my husband. He doesn’t preach, he walks it out!! It is amazing to me. He never has to open up his mouth, but the way he lives out His walk with Jesus speaks more then words could ever say.

Exactly! Mine doesn’t preach, he gently reminds at times, but mostly I just watch and learn. It truly is amazing to learn from him. Where I struggle is where he is strong! God definitely knew what I was going to need! Blessings!

So many times women tend to look down on their husbands and consider themselves the better parent because they are the one that provides most of the care. It is indeed true though that our husbands bring something completely different to the table and we can learn so much from them.
I found you via Teach me Tuesdays and am following you by email now.

So true. Women do tend to think they are better because they are “mom”. Unfortunately we can also be less patient because we are mom and most of us are with the kiddos more than our husbands. Sometimes we must take a step back and reevaluate our actions. Thank you for stopping by and for adding me! Blessings!

Praise the Lord that He is teaching you through your husband. Boy, I can relate! My husband is so much more patient than I am, so much more tender than I am naturally in my flesh. And I sure do praise God for t he things I’ve learned from him…even in being a mom.

Thanks for linking this post up with me today!

Great words! We don’t have kids yet, but I still learn from my husband– things about leadership, how to not overreact (THATS a work in progress) and roll with the punches when the army throws us an unexpected blow. Thanks for this reminder to humble ourselves and learn. Blessings!
