Ministry May with Wisdom Wednesday ~ T.F.I.

A few weeks ago I shared on my Facebook Page that God had placed on my heart reaching children that are forgotten, children in my own country, my own state…..stuck in the system. Foster care.

Kids that are waiting for someone to take the time to love them, someone willing to work through their painful past with them, someone to be there for good. For always.

Since God spoke to my heart , I have spent hours online searching for a foster care ministry within the United States. I honestly had come up empty. And my heart was broken.

Then, it showed up…..

A package full of homeschooling information. Inside I found a card that said “Service Projects for Homeschoolers ~ Serve a Widow ~ Help an Orphan”. This immediately caught my eye, and I went to the website listed immediately.

I spent over an hour on their website, and after looking around, I called my mom so excited I was screaming I’m sure! πŸ™‚

The Forgotten Initiative was founded in 2011 by Clint & Jami Kaeb, and their ministry is “dedicated to bringing joy and purpose to the foster care community”.

Immediately I wanted to sign up to be a Forgotten Advocate, but realized reading the responsibilities necessary to do so were beyond what I am able to do at this time in my life.

There are many other ways to help, one of which I will be doing is working with their partner organization, Lifesong for Orphans, as a Lifesong Blogger.

Be sure to stop by their corner to see if there is a Forgotten Advocate in your area, or if there is another area that you are able to help with. Maybe you will be THE first Forgotten Advocate in your area? If you do sign up, please let me know! I definitely would love to know this!

T.F.I. does have a blog, which I am following, and I encourage you to stop by and check out here.

I love wearing clothes that “speak” for what I support, there are some items here that I will be adding to my wardrobe as well. The money of course will further the work that they are doing with kids!

I pray that God will speak to our hearts about reaching children within our own country, those forgotten on their own soil.

“And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,

Β Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.” (Mark 9:36-37)

Beautiful!!! What a wonderful cause. There are so many children needing homes and families – and the feeling that they belong somewhere. My heart breaks for these as well. I hope you are able to raise awareness of TFI – and that many will follow!

Looks wonderful. My husband and I adopted three children who came to us through foster care.
A few years ago I headed a project at the school in which I teach for foster children. We made crib quilts for babies, small pillows for children and fabric covered journals. These were distributed by Social Services to children in foster care. One six year old boy at my school introduced himself to me (he wasn’t in my class) and said that he and two siblings were in foster care. I let him choose a pillow and journal from the pile. He was so excited. Later when I spoke at a Heart Gallery their picture was posted as children hoping for a forever home. They came close to being adopted twice, but each time it fell through, due to no fault of the children. I have lost touch with him and his family. I do hope that they were able to find someone to love them. They were wonderful kids. Every child deserves someone who will love them.

That is awesome! πŸ™‚ I’m so looking forward to what God has for my husband and I later on down the road. I am going to be looking into ways I can help with Social Services. Every child does deserve to be loved and hugged. Thanks so much for sharing and stoppin by! Blessings!

I had never heard of this ministry. I am going to check into. We’ve been looking for ways to get our family more actively involved in outreach. It is so important for our children to see us sharing the love of Christ with those who might not hear of it otherwise. Thanks so much for linking up last week at Walking Redeemed!
