By Divine Appointment

Two sentences in this chapter changed me.

They provided peace and strength in some difficulties in my marriage.

He must answer to God for how he leads his “troops”. You must answer to God for how you obey the one He placed over you.”   <— Tweet the Truth!

Many times I may not agree or understand what or why my husband does something. Knowing that I am under His command and He under God’s…

That I am only responsible to fall under my husband (and thus God’s command) and if he is not following God, then it is on him, not me.

These truths provide the peace and strength that I need.

“But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God” (1 Cor. 11:3)

“For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.” (Eph. 5:243)

Your husband, dud that he may “appear” to be, is appointed by God to be your immediate Superior Office in the chain of command. Your position under him is where God put you for your own spiritual, emotional, and physical safety. It is the only position where you will find real fulfillment as a woman. Don’t worry about the quality of his leadership, for he is under the oversight of Jesus Christ.

It takes faith in God to trust him when all you seem to see is one carnal man leading you ~ to “God only knows where.” <– Soooo True! Tweeters Need To Know

In all of this submit-to-your-superior talk, remember this: God is focusing our attention on the heavenly pattern. The emphasis is not on women submitting to men, but rather on women showing, here on earth, the heavenly pattern of the Son submitting to the Father.

God tells us that we are to be help meets: We are to submit, obey, and even reverence our husbands. He tells us WHY we are assigned the role of the helper.

1. We came forth from man’s ribs and were created for him. We are a part of him.

 1 Corinthians 11:7-9

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.”

 2. Our position in relation to our husband is a picture of the Great Mystery, which is Christ and the Church. We, as the body of Christ, are for Him, our living Head. It can be no other way!

1 Corinthians 11:3

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

Ephesians 5:32-33

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.”

God tells us WHY our husband is to be the one who rules the home. God explains why it is never his will for the wife to rule.

1. The fall into sin was due to a woman’s inherent vulnerability.

1 Timothy 2:13-14

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.  And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”

1 Corinthians 11:7

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.”

2. Curses were placed on the guilty in the fall.

Genesis 3:16

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”

It was God’s design, before the fall, that the woman’s desire would be to her husband and that he would rule over her. This relationship was not punishment, but after the fall it would be a source of suffering for the woman. God created the woman to be the helper of the man ~ a sinless man. Now that she has led him into sin, she is still his helper, her desires are still focused on him and his goals, and he will still rule over her as before ~ but now he is sinful, selfish, and carnal.

God has spoken frankly as to why he made us as he did and what our role is to be.

Praying for you this day as you focus on the role He’s called you to!

I think the truth about these scriptures is that if both partners are doing what honors God, submission come naturally out of love. I like how you point out that things don’t always happen so tidily, however, and that we are supposed to emulate Christ at such times.

Yes, that is true. When both spouses are serving the Lord, then submission is much easier. However they are not always both serving the Lord, that is when submission is more difficult. Thank you for stopping by! Blessings!

It makes it easier following our husbands when we know he is following God. And truly that is where our fulfilment comes, when we fulfil God’s own desire in our relationship with our husbands, Thanks a lot for this deep truths, visiting from Matrimonial Monday, do have a super blessed day!

It is easier when he does follow God, but unfortunately that is not always the case. It is during those times that we must remember that we are a picture of Christ and the church! Our submission and love is ultimately to Christ! Thank you for stoppin by! Blessings!
