Today one of the first sisters I chatted with about blogging is sharing in my corner! I am so blessed to have her here today! Be sure to stop by A Little R & R and say hello to a dear sister!
We have our own little game. He climbs up three stairs, turns around and jumps down one-by-one. I get down on his two-year-old level and cheer like he’s won the Olympics. I stretch out my arms and he comes running for a big bear hug. Most of the time.
I’ll admit to a twinge of disappointment when he doesn’t. Because few things in this world are as precious as when my son comes running up to me with his arms stretched wide wanting to give his mommy a big hug.
I’ll bet it’s the same way with our Heavenly Father. Daily He stretches His arms out to us waiting for us to come running to Him. To spend time with Him. To talk with Him, share our burdens, and learn from Him. I imagine He feels that same twinge of disappointment when we just turn around and go about our day, doing what we do – doing what has to get done…
…when we turn around and chat on Facebook…
…turn around and write our blog post for the day…
…turn around and answer those dozens of emails piling up in our inbox…
and leave Him standing there just waiting for next time.
This analogy filled my heart with sorrow as I was reminded of the times I have done this. Knowing how my mommy heart longs for those precious moments with my son, and knowing how often I have considered other things more important than being with my Heavenly Father.
Have you left Him waiting, too? Has He been waiting long?
Maybe today – right now – would be a good time to spend some time with your Heavenly Father. Let Him embrace you, open your heart to Him, let Him instruct you, comfort you, and ease your burdened heart. Let us leave Him waiting no longer.
Because nothings in this world is as precious to Him as when His sons and daughters come running up to Him with arms stretched wide!!
