Who doesn’t love a smile? A cheerful countenance?
Did you ever think that your husband loves that most about the woman he fell in love with?
What does he see now?
The Bible tells us that the Joy of the Lord is our strength. For this marriage making journey you’re on, you will need all the strength afforded by the joy of the Lord.
When he first fell in love with you, you were a sweet little things, full of laughter and fun. From the very bottom of your soul you were thrilled with Him. Every day you woke up planning some activity that involved you both. Is he still married to the same sweet little thing, or have you become a long-faced, sickly complainer? Love is like a flower, you can’t expect it to grow without sunshine. Has your lover seen your sunshine lately? Is he still your lover? What would he say?
Proverbs 15:13 says, “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance…” Everyone is drawn to a smile. Who and what you are is reflected in your face. Does your husband see you as a happy thankful woman? Does he smile when he looks at you, amused at the cheerful little grin on your face and the totally delightful things you think and say ~ even the dumb things? Learn to charm him with your mischievous “only for him” grin.
Everyone is drawn to a smile and wants to be a friend to someone overflowing with goodwill. Men are highly attracted to smiles. That includes your husband. Do you want your husband to stay home more? A merry heart and a mischievous giggle are good drawing cards. Women spend billions of dollars every year to make themselves more attractive, but the most effective beauty aid is free ~ a joyful smile.
~~Homework~~
What can I do to make him smile?
How can I work on smiling more?

This is a new book to me. Very interesting topic.
Like Kim, I’m a “smiler”. Smile when happy, sad and everything in between. I enjoy thinking about what I can to do make HIM smile. Nice perspective.

Yes, making HIM smile isn’t something many of us think of often 😉 Yet it can change his day, as well as ours and draw us closer than we were before! Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

It is important to be joyful–sour-faced people don’t really add that joy to life. This is a great reminder, thanks!

This has definitely given me something to think about. My husband has said to me multiple times over the last few months that I do not have a sense of humor. He will joke with me and I think he his serious and tend to get bent out of shape. Will be praying for God to lighten my heart and to help me to play along with my husband instead of always being so serious.

My husband also says I need to “lighten up”. It’s easy for the long days to bring you down, I am striving to smile more! I know if I can do so, then my days will be a lot sweeter! 🙂 Thanks for stoppin by! Blessings!

Thanks for this awesome reminder– I really love the questions at the top… definitely hit home for me! I would say that my hubby does enjoy (and has come to expect) my cheerful attitude– although sometimes with army wife life and currently going through our first pregnancy, my cheerful countenance sometimes seems to be missing.
I’ve been sick for the last couple of months, so am very hopeful that my continued prayers for a positive attitude and finding my joy in the Lord will do me (and our “Little Patriot”) better than ANY medicine!! 🙂 Blessings!

I love this reminder! You’re right, sometimes we have to be intentional about smiling, although because I work for a dentist, I think about smiles a lot! Smiles are winsome, welcoming, and affirming. Did you know that smiles even “show” through the phone? Next time you answer the phone, smile first an see how much nicer your greeting is! Thanks for this happy reminder this fine Monday. Visiting from Be Not Weary and glad I did.

“A sweet little thing.” Oh, my. I haven’t thought of myself as that in years! I do smile a lot, but I think changing my perspective so I remember that sweet little thing makes me smile even more. Thanks!
